Was the bronze age “poppycock” or a major advancement in human history?
The major advancement that is now advanceing is; The issue of the murder of Abel is being laid before humanity. Whoever, whatever is detecting to determine if humanity is at least a little sorry. If no sorrow is expressed whoever, whatever will balance the scale.
Bronze age is at different times in different cultures, advancement is relative, more important in some cultures than in others. Abel’s murder is on Cain’s hands, the sum total of the punishment is the “mark of Cain” which nobody seems to know what it is/was. Can only be sorry for what you did, can feel sorrow empathetically but deserves no judgment if no ill action is taken. A single personal action shouldn’t tip the humanity scale very far, and the scale metaphor suggests a standard system of comparison, as far as I can tell that’s not how it works.

Bronze Age
The Bronze Age, the Birth of Swords
The Bronze Age was the time in which humans began to manufacture and use metal-bladed weapons. Swords developed from what we know as the dagger. The oldest sword-like weapon that has been found was in Arslantepe, Turkey and was dated around 3300 BC. Swords which were longer than 60 centimeters were not practical during the Bronze Age. At longer lengths the tensile strength of bronze starts to decrease rapidly, making the sword super susceptible to bending. It was not until stronger allows such as steel and improved heat treatment processes were developed that long swords became a practical weapon for combat.
Earlier in the Bronze Age the hilt allowed for a manageable grip and prevented the hand from slipping during a thrust. These early swords typically had smaller and slender blades that were used for thrusting. Later, swords became used for both cutting and thrusting. A European sword known as the leaf-shaped blade was most common in North-West Europe at the end of the Bronze Age. This was especially true in the UK and in Ireland.
Sword production was also prevalent in China during the Bronze Age Shang Dynasty. In fact, the technology for bronze swords reached its highest point during the Qin Dynasty and the Warring States. During the Warring States period, very unique technologies were put into use. This included casting high tin edges over a lower, softer tin core as well as the application of diamond shaped designs into the blade. The Chinese also used a high tin bronze (17-21% tin) while most cultures preferred a lower tin bronze (typically 10% tin). With this lower tin, the sword would bend when stressed too much as opposed to the Chinese tin that simply brakes. It wasn’t until the Han period in which iron had completely replaced bronze.
Iron swords were the weapons that became completely popular during the 13th century BC. Because of its ability to be mass-produced easily, and the wider availability, the Bronze Age slowly moved in the Iron Age. The earliest iron blades were hardly comparable with later steel blades. But the Iron Age soon turned in the Middle Ages, thus the popularity of swords increased even more, far into the Renaissance and in certain cultures, even into the modern age. Swords are and always have been a strong, reliable weapon that will never die away.

Why did the Bronze Age come before the Iron Age?

Bronze preceded iron as a widely worked metal due to the fact that the metals which make bronze are easily recovered from their ores, and the resulting alloy is soft enough to be easily worked with the raw materials which were then available.
Bronze is an alloy of tin and copper and is lower in the reactivity series than iron. This means Bronze is easier to get out of its ore than iron. So bronze was found first and once we got good at getting bronze it was easier for us to extract iron.
Iron is a common element in the earth’s crust, but it almost always occurs as a compound, it is very rarely to find it naturally as metallic iron. Occasionally an iron meteorite will fall from space, to provide a ‘magical’ source of the metal. Such rare occurrences allowed a few smiths to discover the valuable properties of iron.
It is much more difficult to smelt iron than copper. In copper smelting, the copper flows as a liquid to the bottom of the furnace. The slag of waste material accumulates on top of the copper, and can be poured off to leave behind the copper. The copper is easily identified as copper, and the process is intuitive. But the physical chemistry of smelting iron from oxide or sulfide ores differs from that of copper, which may well have made iron smelting difficult to recognize even when it had happened. In principle, iron can be smelted from magnetite or hematite, which are comparatively common ores, but iron does not melt at the temperatures that can be reached in a primitive furnace: iron is still solid when copper and bronze are molten.
