What grade does Antonio Escalannte deserve for his performance last night?
I felt he was the better man and won in a fight that was not his type of fight. Good chin. But he let Roman dictate the fight. He gets a lower mark in the ring generalship catagory. I give him a B-.
I agree with your grade, maybe a tad bit higher with a B. I thought it was a great fight that he definitely deserved to win but he gets a few marks down for taking the 9th round off as well as his footwork, particularly while moving side to side- there were points in the fight where Roman was not even hitting Escalante and Escalante looked off-balance. All in all, however a great fight and very good performances from both fighters- it’ll be interesting to see how Escalante performs against the top fighters of the featherweight division.
